2 Months since we have been in New Zealand....

Well hello from down under,
It has been over 2 months since we have arrived in New Zealand, and it has been great.
Oh and to let you all know we didn’t feel the earth Quake here, thank you for the prayer and concerns. Love you all.
To fill you in on us, we are settled. We live in a 3-bed room studio/apartment. The other two bedrooms are where the boys from the Bible College are staying. The girls are staying in a house just up the hill from us. We got a car or rather a van. Thank you for all who were praying for that. It is great Tecla is now a soccer mom☺ It is a Mazda MPV; it is a great little people mover. We will use it to shuttle students around, and to pick any of our friends up from the airport, hint hint.
As far as the Bible College is going… The students have arrived. First classes were on the 30th of Aug. So every one has survived the first month of Bible College. To fill some of you in on what we are doing specifically. Tecla is in charge of servant hood area (m199, which is a class that has the students work around the college to keep the cost of living down for them), kitchen (she helps prepare the meals, and organizes who is fixing other meals, and make the runs to the store for all the food), and various other things. I am teaching Community Outreach (it is a class that gives the students practical tools to share the gospel with the people around them, then it gives them the opportunity to do that. They go street witnessing or to people’s houses, to do a little yard work, weather permitting), I am also the overseer for Friday morning guest speakers and prayer (That is a class that we get people from around New Zealand or even the world, to come in and share what the Lord is doing in their ministry. It is to give the students an idea of what ministry is like else where in the world)
Tecla and my self also work for the Ranch that the College is facilitated at. We put in 40 hours a week, 20 for Tecla, and 20 for me.
On Tecla’s face book page there are more pics, of the things out here. So please take a look. Please feel free to email us with questions, or even just shoot us a quick hey what’s up. We love you all and miss you so much.
Love you all and thank you for your support and prayers.
1 Cor 13:2 “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and UNDERSTAND ALL MYSTERIES and ALL KNOWLEDGE, and though I have ALL FAITH that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I AM NOTHING”. (Emphasis mine)

Sorry a couples days old, internet at the ranch is not the best

Well we made it.
We are here in New Zealand and we haven’t died yet, or lost anyone. We left on Tuesday the 13th of July and arrived in New Zealand on the 15th of July. I still can’t fully wrap my head around it but that’s all right. It has taken a few days to get adjusted but I think we are all good now.
We have moved in to our nice house now. It is a 3-bedroom apartment type thingy. We only use one room; the other 2 will be used for the students when they come. The view off our back porch is horrible; we are on the second story over looking a small lake, with rolling hills behind it and amazing sunsets, just horrible. Just kidding for those that think I am serious right now.
We went to church for the first time yesterday, Sunday. That was so good, meeting new people and just seeing how welcoming they all are. We also had a little guys discipleship study last night (Sunday night). Lots of meat, lamb, steak, sausage, and some other little New Zealand dishes that were good, but I can’t remember what they were called.
Well as far as the Bible College, students should arrive around the end of August, so it is just a matter of getting all of the details figured out, but it is coming together. We all are excited here to see God move.
As far as our work on the Ranch we are going to sit down with the leaders of the Ranch at the beginning of this week and sort of put it all together to see what they will require of us and when they would like us to be here. Obviously with the College and all it wont be our typical work day of 9am-5pm deal. Tec and I are excited to get started with everything God has for us out here.
We Love you all and miss you all soo much. And please keep us in your prayers. Thank you for all your prayers and support in our big move.
In Him

We leave for New Zealand on Tuesday 13th

Well dear friends and family,
The time has come for us to move. As some of you know Tecla and I have been praying to go back on to the mission field since we returned to the Golden State of California back on October 31st 2006. The past year more specifically we’ve been praying for New Zealand. After 8 months of applying for work visas, two-yard sales, moving in with parents again, and sending my sister and her husband off to Kentucky, we are finally moving to Rotorua, New Zealand.
You may be asking why New Zealand and other are saying why not …it is the Hawaii of the Pacific Rim. Well long story short, a friend, pastor and teacher of ours moved down there little over a year ago and invited us to pray go and help him start a Calvary Chapel Bible College down there. As you know with much prayer, and consideration, (about 2 seconds worth) we said yes. So began the process of getting our work visas.
Talk about timing, we first wanted to leave in January of 2010 but the Lord did not allow it at that time. We stayed in the States for a bit more. It not only allowed us to save some money, but allowed Tecla to receive her American Citizenship, and go visit her family in Romania.
I would like to share with you what the Lord used to start our journey to New Zealand--Joshua is about to cross the Jordan River, with all of Israel, as the new leader of the Israelites. And the Lord has 3 things that He calls the Israelites to as they begin their journey:
First is to wait on the Lord, and follow his lead, because the Israelites “had not gone that way before”. This had new meaning for us in January, because we thought we were suppose to go to New Zealand at the beginning of the year, but that was not when the Lord was leading. We “had not gone this way before”. So we waited on Him, and allowed God to guide us and lead us to this point in time, we are leaving on July 13th of 2010.
Second thing God calls them to is sanctify themselves - the Israelites. What that meant is literally they were to take a bath and wash their clothes. Thankfully we are able to do that every day☺; to us it means to set ourselves apart from this world. To sanctify means to set apart, consecrate, make holy. By reading our Word and letting the Spirit move within us, every day we let the Lord work in us that sanctification, that washing of the mind and soul.
Third thing God calls the Israelites to follow the Arc of the Covenant. Nothing special there, the Arc is moving so follow. For us that went a little deeper. God called and we had to move, to follow. The Priests had to get their feet wet before God would part the Jordan River. They had to stand in a raging rushing river before that water would stop and dry up for them all to cross. For us we had to sell and get rid of things and even make preparations before God truly said go. We had to “get our feet wet” by trusting He would sell our house, cars and provide everything else before He stopped the Jordan. Before we go He wants to see our faith, hope, and trust in Him.
So here we are getting our feet wet, setting ourselves apart to follow and wait on Him. You may be asking ok what are you going to do down there? What I know for sure is that He’s called us to serve and help start this Bible College. There will be teaching involved, youth ministries, and many other opportunities, which God will reveal when we get there. We have work visas for 1 year so as far as we know that is just a start and we will see where and how long God provides.
Prayer requests
1. The school in general, new staff, new students. We will need to work out all of the kinks, and want lots and lots of grace for everyone.
2. Tecla and myself to continue to rely on the Lord for everything as we make this move being a Godly example to these students, this nation of New Zealand.
3. Provision for a car in New Zealand.
4. The Walsh family as they are the Pioneers for the rest of us.
5. For the Lord to be glorified in it all.
Thank you all and hope this wasn’t long or boring but just wanted to get some of you caught up to speed with what is happening in our lives. Love you all and please don’t hesitate to email us.

Well here it is Monday night getting the finishing touches for our trip to Romania, and just thinking of how great God is. We got our plain tickets for New Zealand. We leave on July 13th. We are so excited because God is leading us to a place that is so beautiful. But we know beauty is not everything, but trusting in Him is. We are fully relying on Him as we get our feet wet and follow the Lord. Joshua 3 Love you all and will fill you in with more details as we go.

Well the paper work is in....

So after 6 months of being told that we don't have the right papers, and to wait for a few more months, they finally accepted our applications for work visas in New Zealand. Tecla and I went down to LA again (Monday 17th) to file for our visas. And of course we couldn't just walk in and give them our papers, they had us fill out the paper work again and after they took it they said we will call you if we need anything else.
So the best news is they took our papers and we are now just waiting to hear if we got the visas or not

Last night as we were at a Bible study, during worship I was reminded of Revelation 5:12 "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessings"

Through this whole process I have been reminded to give God glory. Whether I feel like it or not. It doesn't matter what I feel or think the bottom line is that Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God cause the work is finished, and the only thing I need and have to do is give Him glory for everything that happens in my life. Whether I think it is good or bad, doesn't matter because all things work together for good to them that love God Romans 5:8

So thank you all for your continued prayers and love. May the lords will be done...

Lordy, Lordy, help me to not turn forty right now.......

Well Tecla and I went to file for our New Zealand visas again today, thank you for praying. We didn't have the right dates on some documents and even needed some new documents. So the journey continues.
Well this reminds me of a study I was at on James 1:1-3, count it all joy when you fall in to various trials.
Or even Romans 5:3 Tribulation, produces patience, patience produces character, character produces hope, and hope does not fail.
I know some of you are thinking what is the big deal you just have to go home and get the right dates and so forth. But AAAAhhhh, just a little frustrating. And I know as Hosea 2:15 says the Lord will give us a door of hope through the valley of Achor which means the valley of trouble. So as we continue this journey of just trying to get to New Zealand, and as we go through the hoops the Lord gives us a door of hope, that hope is that we don't have to worry about what happens here because it is all in His hands.
So thank you for your continued prayers, and will continue to keep you posted
Love and in Him

Almost there....

Well when we sent the first newsletter I remember we said we’re never gonna stop waiting on God and guess what - we’re still here in Yucaipa, waiting!! That has nothing to do with God’s promises or with our faith; it’s all about waiting for His timing-so He continues to purify us… Continuing to wait on Him it’s a choice we have to make every day…it is like we feel that fire …but when we are gonna look back we know that we were made much better through fire, through painful circumstances, through dim and vague moments, through problems and troubles, through trials and persecution. We are learning that through these things -- through becoming an offering made by fire and becoming a burnt offering -- we become an aroma pleasing to the Lord. How wonderful and amazing to know that the God of this universe would care to make us a wonderful treasure untouched by any impurities. Instead of getting mad and confused why we experience such things, we choose to get on our knees and thank God that He wants us to be a sweet aroma pleasing to Him, that He is preparing us and wants to use us in New Zealand and right now in Yucaipa.
So even though we knew going to New Zealand might not happen that fast, it still caught us by surprise, but it is comforting to know that it comes as no surprise to Him, that HE has us exactly where He wants us to be. We continue to trust in God’s sovereignty submitting to whatever the Lord has in store for our lives, regardless of what we thought it should be, knowing and standing on Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future and Romans 8:38 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
So …just to let you know… we are still planning to move to New Zealand, our house it’s done deal, moved in with the in-laws, and made good money on our 2 yard-sales. We haven’t sold either of the cars- but that ended up being a blessing. Another blessing is that we both told our jobs we were done in December, but they were really gracious to us and we got to keep our jobs till we leave. As for now we are shooting for mid July.

So what’s new?
I’M AMERICAN …believe it or not but that it’s true! I just have to be sworn in.
We had High School camp this past weekend. It was a sweet time with the Lord and those kids. God really moved and broke downs walls. It will be good to see these kids grow deeper in their relationships with the Lord.

What s coming up?
Weddings … My sister Mandy is getting married in April. And I believe on some cult calendar it is the year of the wedding :) j/k
We will be applying for our visas soon. They said they won't look at the applications more then 3 months in advance of when we want to leave. so we can't even apply until May.

Prayer requests...
The visa paper work for New Zealand to go through smoothly
For continual peace under one roof... living with 5 people under one roof can get a little crazy at times, but God is good and has blessed us with a good family

Praise Reports...
Tecla is an American Citizen
That will help with travels every where.
We are living at Jake's parents house so saving money.
And that God is faithful in all things
Thanks and God bless
