A. “A long obedience in the same direction.”- Eugene Peterson

Hello Friends and Family,
Marry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope this newsletter finds you and yours in a time of rejoicing and celebration of our savior’s birth. I know for us this year has been different and stretching but God is faithful and so we must be faithful to give him praise.
So to fill you in we have finished our 3 semester at Calvary Chapel Bible Institute New Zealand, and love it. This is exactly what Tecla and I want to do for the rest of our lives; praise the Lord He has allowed us to do this. We have spent our second Christmas in New Zealand and it has truly been better then the first, partly because we have an actual tree ☺. Jade’s first Christmas has been a lot of laughs. It was fun to have my parents (Jake’s parents), come out and visit us for Thanksgiving. It is become somewhat of a tradition to have some one come visit us at that time of year, we love it. I, Jake, was blessed by God (as always), but also by the Pastor’s here in New Zealand, to be ordained. It was a great timing because they ordained me when my parents were here, which was a huge blessing for all of us.
As far as next semester I will be teaching 3 classes, Galatians/ Ephesians (as one class), the Gospel of Luke, and Friday Lectures. Tecla will be overseeing the food and servant hood (m199) area again. Jade will continue to be Jade.
We have a couple of prayer request. Our visa, we are looking at the next step for us as a family and to get Residency would be best with Jade and all the benefits with health care. The only thing with that is we do not meet the minimum requirement financially to apply for residency. The other thing to be praying for is more housing for all of us as a school. As some of you know we live with the boys of the school, which has not been too bad. The thing is Jade is getting bigger as well as the school is getting an increase of people, so we will need get our own place as a family soon. But we know God is good and He is our portion, so praise him for that (Psalm 73:26).
So thank you all for your prayers and support. We love you all and miss you all. As always please feel free to email, or call us if you would like, or we can even skype. Thanks again Love Jake, Tecla and Jade Wilmoth

Psalm 84:11-12 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield, the Lord will give grace and glory, no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You!”

On our way again

Hello everyone,
Well here it is 1 year from the first time we left for New Zealand. A lot has happened since the last time we have updated you all so let me fill you in a little.
A few months ago Tecla came to the States. Later on, after closing down the semester in New Zealand, I joined her for the waiting of our little Jade. As some of you may have heard, Jade Elizabeth Wilmoth was born on 7-9-11. She was 7. 10 lbs beautiful and healthy. She is now a month old, such a gift from the Lord. Mommy (Tecla) is doing well, looking forward to the newness of life together with our daughter. We’re both amazed and blessed to know that God has entrusted us a sweet angel. We’ve been parents for 5 weeks and this is our experience so far: being a parent is like on 24 hours emergency alert. Sometimes, you wonder how can you survive till your kid is grown. Some days, you simply feel inadequate and don't have a clue in the world of what to do next... but we both rely on God’s enabling power to be faithful parents.
I (Jake) have been working in a warehouse in Bloomington, Revchem composites. It has been a huge blessing to be working while back home. I have also been getting ready to be teaching 2 classes for next semster, the book of Joshua and the book of Revelation. These are some quotes that inspire me: A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others. I am excited to be used again and to see what God will accomplish in the lives of the students.
We are planning to go back to New Zeland soon. We applied for another year work visa on Thursday, August 4th. We are praying that they will get back to us soon so we can get our tickets and shortly be on our way. Tecla and I have been praying and feel more and more that the Lord is leading us to make New Zealand our home. As we are on our way, we will be looking into how the Lord may provide, and if that is truly His will.
Thank you all for your prayers and support. We appreciate all the love and encouragment that every one has shown us since we have been home and since Jade was born.
Prayer requests:
Raising Jade in the way of the Lord
New Semester at the College
Finaces & accomadations
Wisdom in how to go about making New Zealand our home
Please feel free to email us at jtw@ccbi.ac.nz or if you would like you can call us at 1-909-795 -0690 until August 22nd.
Thank you and love you all.
Jake, Tecla and Jade Wilmoth

“Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear least any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” - Hebrews 4:12

I can’t believe it, but our time in New Zealand is coming to an end, or is it?

Well hello again,
I can’t believe it, but our time in New Zealand is coming to an end, or is it?
Well let me fill you in on what has happened before I tell you what is coming.
So Tecla and I have been in Rotorua, New Zealand for almost a year. It has been the most amazing thing we have done, and we have enjoyed every minute of it. I am currently co-teaching through the book of Romans with Mark Walsh, and then teaching Community Outreach. Tecla is still in charge of food service and the student’s servant areas (m199). To explain our time here, in a few words, I’ll use one of C.S. Lewis’ quotes: “Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.” It’s been a blast! God has been our strength and our guide: Psalm 36:5 “Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.”
Tecla is very pregnant. I think she is beautiful, but she says “How can I be beautiful when I have a belly like this?” Of course you have to imagine her saying that with a Romanian accent. As I said our time here is coming to a close for now. Tecla is heading back to California on April 28th. I will finish teaching here at the college and then join her in California on June 8th.
Our hope and prayers are to come back to New Zealand after the baby is born. We are not sure when that will happen or how it will take place. We are not sure as of when, because of our visas, we have to get new ones as well as all of the proper documentation for the baby. We are not sure of how, because our financial situation is not stable enough to support a family of 3. We know that He alone is our source for everything, where He guides He provides, so please pray with us and for us. Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
So with that said, while we are in the States please email us. We would love to try seeing as many of you as possible. And thank you all so much for your prayers and support.

Tsunami Warnings from the Japan earthquake

Hello every one,
There was an earthquake in Tokyo, Japan. It was a about an 8.0 very large. So because of that I know a lot of the West coast of the United States have received Tsunami warnings. New Zealand has received similar warnings. But thankfully they are low risks unless you are in the water. So for us we are all ok. We were going to go to the beach today for an evangelistic outreach with the college, but as of right now we are sitting tight to play it safe. I have had contact from the Bible college in Okinawa and they have said they are fine really didn't feel much and the Tsunami warnings weren't big for them. But Tokyo and surrounding cities are very badly hit. So please keep them and their friends and family who might be in Tokyo, in prayer. Thank you and love you all.

Earth quake and Baby

Hello everyone,
We are all good down here in New Zealand. We didn’t even feel the earth quake at all. To give you all a bit of a geography lesson, all of New Zealand is about the size of California. New Zealand is split into two main islands. We live in Rotorua, which is about half way down the north island. The earthquake was about half way down the south island, in a town called Christchurch.

Update on the epicenter. Most of the Calvary Chapel folks down there have been contacted and are all ok. There have been reported on the news that 65 people are dead so far, and the number will probably double.

On a personal note. On Wensday we found out whether we were having a boy or a girl. So we are having a little baby girl. Woot Woot. We are very excited and thank the Lord for His protection and guidance through this all
Thank you for your love and prayers.

We are still alive and serving the Lord:)

Well Hello Everyone,
I know we must apologize for how long it has been since we have written. There are all the excuses in the world but the bottom line is that we suck and we neglect those that care about and support us. So we are sorry and love you all very much.
Well a lot has happened since we have last written. As most of you know Tecla is pregnant! WOW! We are very excited for our first child. We do not know what this little bump is yet. At the end of the month we are going to find out. Tecla and I both have felt like it is going to be a boy and even have a name picked out, Jeremiah Zion. If it is a girl well then we have enough time to pick a name for her and will love her just as much. Tecla is about 4 ½ months pregnant, it is very HOT, and HUMIDE here. So please pray for her comfort and all that goes with being pregnant.
As for me, this past break, a good friend and I taught through Ephesians together at a little home fellowship group we had meeting at our house. It was just during the school summer break and it is very interesting here in New Zealand, during this time all life shuts down, as the mid-week service at our church was on break as well. I have also taken up a sort of part time job, due to a shortage of funds, not because I have a bountiful amount of time on my hands. Well I am sure some of you are already thinking it is building or construction, I am sorry to say but no it actually has very little if anything at all to do with building things. It is milking cows. That is right I have become a relief milker. I work about 4-8 hours a week. So it is quite different and even a bit exciting. I get up at 3:30am, and start at 5am, almost like my work hours back homeJ. Then we milk about 600 cows in 4 hours. Oh and for those who may not know, I am NOT doing this by hand, rather it is all by machine, I put these suction cups on the utters of the cows. So it is a bit draining getting up early, but it is all-good, plus if I ever have to get a job full time out here I always have another trade to fall back on. ☺
So our Second semester is about to start and things are getting a bit busy. Tecla will be in charge of the student’s servant hood (m199), the food/kitchen, and the housekeeping areas. She is very excited with the second semester getting under way. I am Co-teaching the book of Romans with director Mark Walsh. I am also teaching Community Outreach and Friday lectures, as well as various other practical responsibilities around the Institute.
I know many of you are asking when will we return home, and then when are we leaving again. Well our plan so far is Tecla will return home with Brienn Gisler, one of our dear friends, at the end of April. Then I will return when the school semester is over which will be at the beginning of June. As far as returning to New Zealand, our heart is to come back and serve with the Institute again, we just need to see God’s provision and we will follow. So please keep us in your prayers as we seek God’s will and see where He is going to take us in the upcoming months.

“Wherever you are, be ALL there!”
Jim Elliot

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”
Ephesians 1:17-19
