Life at warp speed....

Hello Friends and Family,

We thank you all for your prayers and support.

So to catch you up on the past two months, we have hit the ground running in New Zealand.

So we got here just as outreach week was about to begin.  Jake lead a team to Auckland  he and the team lead a church conference.  He taught through the book of Malachi.  They also were able to experience Island life without ever leaving Auckland.  The church family, (body of Christ) in Auckland were such a blessing to serve with.  The church we helped with was named Garden of Christ, at least that is the English translation. They are a Tuvaluan fellowship.

On March15 & 16 Jake took a couple of guys to a Iconz camp.  Iconz is the New Zealand equivalent to boys scouts, only firmly based in the word.  The guys Jake took shared with the boys at the camp, about different miracles in the Bible involving water.  We pray for more opportunities to have the students serve in the community like this.

We also celebrated Tecla's birthday.  The ladies made her a cake and the school all sang her happy birthday.

This past week Jade started horse riding lessons.  Well not really, but on a regular basis she will get to have professional "riding times" I guess is what we could call it.

As usual Tecla is doing a wonderful job in the kitchen.  And the classes and other things of the school are going well.

This past weekend we took the students to a dry stock farm.  The pastor of Calvary Chapel Hamilton has a couple hundred head of cattle.  We were so blessed to go camping on the farm, the only thing separating us from the cattle was our tents and a little wire fence.  It was awesome!  The students got to experience milking a cow, by hand!  Then drinking the milk straight from the cow, oh it was fun.  We were there to help with a “Sausage Sizzle” that is an outreach to the community where we hand out free sausages and do a bit of witnessing.  This is the 3 year that the city of Hamilton has asked us to do this.  It is always good fun, this time 5 people committed their lives to the Lord.  God is truly doing a work in the Land of the Long White cloud!

God is Good!

There is nothing like birth, marriage and death close to you to make you take a look at your life and desire to be better, to do better, to run this race on earth with all that you are. You desire to leave behind a legacy that leads people to worship the only name worthy to be praised, Jesus. The thought of eternity becomes a longing for the promised home in the Heaven with our Father.  

On December 2nd 2013 we landed in the business of LAX. Our bodies were exhausted from traveling and jet lag, our minds were preoccupied with thoughts of our dear dad, but our hearts were so glad to feel the sweet embrace of our family.  

6-7 weeks later we had experienced highs and lows, light and darkness, joy and sorrow. We lived through all these events as each one impacted us forever: the excitement of my sister in law finding out she will have a little boy, my sister in Romania giving birth to a sweet little girl, Jake's dad going to meet with The Lord, followed by 2 other close friends; our sweet friend, Josh Hughes getting married and last but not least, my little brother getting engaged. 

The only thing we can say is by God's grace: The Lord gives and The Lord takes away, blessed be the name of The Lord. 

We are to return back to New Zealand on February 9th. We will be arriving a week after the semester has started, so we'll hit the ground running, but this is what we were created for, and we love it ;). God has amazing works He has prepared for us to walk in and we know He is faithful to equip us for whatever comes. Eph. 2:10

Once back, Jake will be teaching through Genesis, along with overseeing Friday Lectures and vehicles.  Jake will also continue to help out with Steadfast at Calvary Chapel Hamilton, they will be going through the book of Hebrews. 

Tecla will be doing the same stuff, cooking and overseeing the M199 class.

We need $8,000 dollars to be able to go to Romania to be part of Tecla's brother's wedding and also it would be an opportunity for her family to meet Jade for the first time.

Dear Friends and Family,
I have had this letter on my heart for some time now, and now the time has come to write it.  We will be heading home to California for some time to spend with Jake’s family. “The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places. But still there is much that is fair. And though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief, it still grows, perhaps, the greater”. As many of you know Brian (Jake’s Dad) was diagnosed with lung cancer about 3 years ago. Even though it has been a tough roller-coaster, Dad’s love for the Lord has encouraged us and has been a great example to all of us. He has fought a good fight but his time in this earthly body is quickly coming to a close.  We all thank the Lord that he is a strong believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, and that we share in the hope that we will see Brian again in heaven 
So Jake, Tecla and Jade will be leaving for California on Monday, Dec 2nd to be with family in this difficult time.  We appreciate your prayers. Not only for our family, but also for the ministry we serve with in New Zealand as we are leaving about 2 weeks before this semester ends. 
Romans 5:1-5 tells us that through difficult times we gain hope.  Now this hope is not wishful thinking, like I wish I had more money or I had another car.  “Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul And sings the tune without the words  And never stops at all.” This hope is our hope in Christ.  It is an assurance that Christ will make good on His promises.  This hope is a true statement that whatever is promised will come to pass.  I hold on to that Hope in Christ, knowing I will see my father yet once again in Heaven.

February 2013

Hello every one,
I can't believe it is already February 2013, where did January go?  I hope you are all well!

So we wanted to fill you all in on what has taken place in the past few months.
Since the end of last semester, (beginning of December) we were blessed with the opportunity to go back to California for about 5 weeks.  We left New Zealand to see family and friends for the first time for about a year and a half.  It was truly a blessed time.  We spent most of it just enjoying the fellowship with Jake's family.  It was priceless to see Jade and Olivia (Jake's 2 year old niece) running the house:)  We were able to meet with Franz and Monica who were down here in New Zealand for a time.  We also attended the missions conference at Calvary Chapel Bible College Murrieta, for a few days.

We have since headed back to New Zealand and are now under way with a new semester which began on February 4th.  From out travel it has taken us some time to get back into the swing of things, so please continue to keep us in prayer.
This semester Jake is teaching the book of Joshua along with over seeing Friday Lectures, Morning Devos, and various other areas in the college.  Tecla is once again our fabulous head cook and in charge of the students servant hood areas.  Jade is the school mascot, her job is to be her self and make the students laugh and to love on the horses around the Ranch.

We do have a praise report.  While we were in California we got news that our residency application was accepted.  We will have to pay quite a bit of money for the migrant levy but other then that we just send in the passports and we are golden.

Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it, until the day of Christ."

Live from New Zealand, it’s Saturday night!

 Yes we are still ALIVE!!  J Praise the Lord for His daily sustenance.

We finally mailed off our residency application.  Now it’s in the hands of New Zealand Immigration and obviously and thankfully still in God's hands.

As most of you know, we’ve been sharing one apartment with the boys that come to the Bible College. For this upcoming semester (which started September 3^rd) God has blessed us with our own place!!  We are so excited and thrilled!

So as you can imagine with residency paper work, house moving, and preparation for the new semester our lives have been a bit crazy.

The other day I was thinking how privileged we are to get this chance to serve in this beautiful country, with amazing people, for a great God! One of the definitions of the word privilege is “the principle or condition of enjoying special rights or immunities”.

Truly God has blessed us with special rights! God is the reason we are here, doing what we’re doing, and still being able to do it.  God has provided everything from a house, vehicle, food, even clothes!  We have seen Him bless us beyond belief.

So thank you for all the prayers and support!!!

Our Life

A lot has happened since the last time we have written so let me begin to fill you all in. Somebody said: “There are only two ways to live your life: one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle.” We try to live our life having the hope that David expresses best in Ps.71 “But as for me, I will always have hope…” And this is a miracle in itself. Having hope in this world, living our lives as a miracle because we are saved by a gracious God, because He has chosen us!!! “What god is so great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles; You display Your power among the peoples.” Ps 77. Looking at our precious daughter growing up, learning how to eat, move, crawl and finally walk….is amazing! It is a miracle! We came to the conclusion that a baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for. Another miracle is having a washing machine!!! Yes, thank you Lord! We have our own washer!! 2 years ago, living in the States, having a washing machine was the norm, everybody has a washer and a drier, we tend to go on in life and take everything for granted, but now and here…a washer is a miracle☺. He has blessed us with everything that goes inside a house, all the furniture, kitchen stuff, beds and tables….we just need the house now. So that is a huge prayer request that the Lord would provide a place for us. Being in New Zealand, God continues to show us many miracles, He’s telling us to open our eyes and see! We are surrounded by His goodness we just need to see it. To be honest it hasn’t been easy to live here in NZ, but the Lord is challenging us “As they pass through the Valley of Baca (which means trouble or weeping or desert) they make it a place of springs.” Ps 84. So the Bible College here in New Zealand has finished its fourth semester. It has been a long but good one. I, Jake, taught through the Gospel of Luke, Galatians and Ephesians. Tecla once again oversaw the food and M199 serventhood class, the food was awesome! During the semester I led an outreach team to a city in New Zealand called Hamilton. It was fun and exciting seeing the team, which was mostly Americans, mix in with a bunch of Kiwis, spreading the Good News. We have decided to apply for New Zealand residency. To give the short version of the process, we have begun the paper work for medical forms, background checks for almost every country we lived in and a bunch of extra stuff. What does all of this mean for us? This means that this winter (or summer depending on which hemisphere you live in), June-August we will not be visiting the States. Please keep us in your prayers as we are once again taking a step of faith, concerning residency and housing.

Hello Friends and Family,
Marry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope this newsletter finds you and yours in a time of rejoicing and celebration of our savior’s birth. I know for us this year has been different and stretching but God is faithful and so we must be faithful to give him praise.
So to fill you in we have finished our 3 semester at Calvary Chapel Bible Institute New Zealand, and love it. This is exactly what Tecla and I want to do for the rest of our lives; praise the Lord He has allowed us to do this. We have spent our second Christmas in New Zealand and it has truly been better then the first, partly because we have an actual tree ☺. Jade’s first Christmas has been a lot of laughs. It was fun to have my parents (Jake’s parents), come out and visit us for Thanksgiving. It is become somewhat of a tradition to have some one come visit us at that time of year, we love it. I, Jake, was blessed by God (as always), but also by the Pastor’s here in New Zealand, to be ordained. It was a great timing because they ordained me when my parents were here, which was a huge blessing for all of us.
As far as next semester I will be teaching 3 classes, Galatians/ Ephesians (as one class), the Gospel of Luke, and Friday Lectures. Tecla will be overseeing the food and servant hood (m199) area again. Jade will continue to be Jade.
We have a couple of prayer request. Our visa, we are looking at the next step for us as a family and to get Residency would be best with Jade and all the benefits with health care. The only thing with that is we do not meet the minimum requirement financially to apply for residency. The other thing to be praying for is more housing for all of us as a school. As some of you know we live with the boys of the school, which has not been too bad. The thing is Jade is getting bigger as well as the school is getting an increase of people, so we will need get our own place as a family soon. But we know God is good and He is our portion, so praise him for that (Psalm 73:26).
